3.20 - A.J. Burnett's ERA in his first three starts. 6.34 - his ERA in his last six starts. He's one of the guys we're counting on to carry the pitching staff. It was supposed to be Sabathia and Burnett that would carry us, with Wang, Joba and Pettitte bringing mediocrity and ups and downs along the way. We all know about Wang's awfulness, Joba isn't giving us innings right now, and Pettitte's been struggling recently.
Unfortunately, Burnett has struggled against Texas. In two starts last year, he gave up 10 runs in 12.1 innings (7.30 ERA). The Yanks could really use a great game from him tonight.
Opposing him will be Derek Holland, who was recently moved from the pen to the rotation. The 22-year-old rookie southpaw has never faced the Yankees. Holland features a power fastball that reaches the upper 90s.
