Phil Hughes goes for vengeance tonight against the team that knocked him out in the second inning 11 days ago (the shortest start of his big league career). If he has another game like that, Chien Ming-Wang will take over his spot in the rotation (if it's not guaranteed already). He did, however, make a decent start against Minnesota on Friday, allowing three runs in five innings.
Jeremy Guthrie goes for Baltimore, already making his third start of the young season against the Yanks. He's been nothing if not consistent - in both starts he's allowed three runs in six innings (for a 4.50 ERA), while his career ERA against the Bombers is 4.41 (in 51 innings).
Hughes hasn't pitched well against the O's since Sept. 17 of 2007, when he allowed two runs in 5.2 innings. Since then (hide your eyes), he's given up 13 runs in seven innings.
