Eyes on the Prize

Momentum is only as good as the next day's starting pitcher. So while momentum looks to favor the Yankees, question marks remain.

C.C. got the loss in Detroit. Coming off an 8-inning, 4-run performance (0BB-7K), C.C. goes today hoping for more run support and a better outcome.

His opponent, minor league journeyman Matt Palmer, recorded his first career win against the Tigers. He allowed 4 earned in six innings of work on 6 hits, 3 walks, and a K. He's a sinkerballer, so expect the game to move quickly.

The Yankees Expected Record stands at 11-12, but those numbers are clouded by Wang's early awfulness. So when we take out the 3 blowouts started by CMW, the Pythag Record becomes 14-9.

We're lucky to be where we are, but we're in great shape to drive forward. Today should be a good day to extend the winning streak.
