Phil Hughes makes his first start of the season tonight. Let's hope that he uses the next few weeks to entrench himself in the rotation and make it impossible for the Yankees to send him back to Scranton.
Edwin Jackson starts for Detroit, so the scuffling Yankee offense should have more opportunities than Justin Verlander gave them Monday night.
By the way, I know many of you out there didn't think it was any big deal when Xavier Nady went down with his elbow injury. With Nick Swisher slumping, Brett Gardner (.220) still trying to prove he is a big-league hitter, and Johnny Damon hurting, I hope you can see now just how much the Yankees could use Nady's bat a few days each week.
NOTE: The Yankees have cut premium seat prices by as much as 50%. Hooray!
