I only saw bits and pieces of Friday's 4-1 victory by our New York Yankees over the Kansas City Royals. Couple of quick notes.
- Just say a prayer that Andy Pettitte's elbow and shoulder hold up. If they do, Friday was an indication that Pettitte could have a very good year.
- If Brian Bruney could throw darts every time like he did Friday no one would ever wonder who the Yankees will use in the 8th inning.
- Robinson Cano (.571) is off to a fast start. If Cano maintains the patience he has shown thus far, he might be headed for his best season since hitting .342 with a .525 slugging percentage in 2006.
- Nick Swisher sure is making it difficult for manager Joe Girardi to keep him out of the lineup. That's a nice problem to have. BTW, did you see the clip of Swisher covering Xavier Nady in towels and making sure he was nice and comfy sitting on the bench and watching Swisher work Friday? Priceless.
Now let's look at a couple of other stories making the rounds of the Yankees Universe.
- Former Yankee Dan Giese is excited about the opportunity he has in Oakland with the Athletics.
- Here are David Letterman's Top 10 Features of the new Yankee Stadium. 'Kudos' to Was Watching.
