Minor league news (via Chad Jennings)

Alan Horne, inconsistent all year, found out he has a torn rotator cuff (as diagnosed by Dr. James 'Sultan of Surgery' Andrews). He should be ready for spring training.

Phil Hughes, Humberto Sanchez, Austin Jackson and Kevin Russo are heading to the Arizona Fall League (which begins October 9th). In related news, 2007 first round draft pick Andrew Brackman will make his professional debut in the Hawaiian Winter League (which begins September 27th).

Surprisingly, only two Scrantonites were called up to the Bigs today: Phil Coke and Chad Moeller. You may have heard Coke mentioned in trade talks earlier this year for Nady and Marte, but Coke was only one of four players Pittsburgh was allowed to take. He's a lefty reliever who's having a breakout season.

Mike Ashmore reports that Humberto Sanchez and Chris Garcia will both pitch tomorrow for Trenton. Neither has pitched above A-ball this year (Garcia never in his career).
