- Sadly, the Yanks have claimed Sidney Ponson off waivers and signed him to a minor league contract after being released by the Texas Rangers for "disrespecting teammates and club personnel." He was 4-1, 3.88 ERA, 1.56 WHIP in 9 starts for Texas.
- According to Kim Jones on the YES pregame, Hideki Matsui is getting his left knee drained and could miss a couple of games. He could pinch-hit tonight if needed. It is not the same knee he had surgery on over the offseason.
