After reading Andy Roth's "Clowns in Pinstripes", I was frustrated. I'm not a Cashman apologist, but even I can give the guy alittle credit and a tip of the hat for not scuttling the "rebuild from within" plan.
This is a pivotal year for Cashman. Given the anxious nature of Yankees fans, he's rolling the dice that the minor league system will flourish under the bright lights of the NYC stage and produce. Failure in 2008 almost certainly dooms his future. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to read that Cashman's blueprint to rebuild the pinstripe dynasty might already be knocking on the door.
Bryan Hoch has a great piece that should shake the winter cold from our bones and warm us with thoughts of October celebrations!
