The big news of the day is that the Yanks won a coin flip and will host a one-game playoff if they finish the regular season tied for the Wild Card lead with the Seattle Mariners or Detroit Tigers.  Okay, it's been a slow news day.

Meche had several quality outings against the Yanks during his SEA days (3-2, 3.88 ERA in 9 starts), but has been rocked in his first season in KC (0-2, 8.74 ERA in 2 starts).

Yanks are 27-11 against the AL Central this season, but only 41-43 against the rest of the AL.  They are 6-1 against the Royals.

Yankee hitters vs. Meche:

A-Rod:  .385 (10-26, 4 HR)  Jeter:  .346 (9-26)  Posada:  .357 (5-14)  Abreu:  .444 (4-9)

Go Mariners!

Update [2007-9-7 19:15:27 by anaconda]:

Ed Price reports that Roger Clemens is tentatively scheduled to return to the rotation on Sunday night, Sept 16th at Fenway. Once again, the Yanks will be throwing Pettitte, Wang, and Clemens against the Red Sox.

He also reports that Mike Mussina will start on Wednesday at Toronto.   They will miss Roy Halladay in that series.
