Phil Hughes,  RHP  (2-3,  5.65)

Hughes has not pitched well since his last win at CLE on Aug 10th (0-2, 6.65 ERA in 4 starts).  However, the offense hasn't exactly helped him out much by scoring a grand total of just 9 runs in those games.

Washburn has always given the Yanks fits over the years (5-4, 2.48 ERA in 10 starts) and the 2007 season is no different (1-1, 2.03 ERA in 2 starts).

A-Rod has been on another tear lately hitting .358 (19-53), 7 HR, 16 RBI in his last 15 games.

Here are some career numbers vs. Washburn which helps explain some of the changes in the lineup:

A-Rod:  .302 (13-43, 5 HR)  Jeter:  .355 (11-31)  Posada:  .273 (6-22)  Abreu:  .077 (1-13, 5 K)  Cano:  .200 (2-10)  Giambi:  .194 (7-36)  Matsui:  .143 (2-14, 4 K)  Melky:  .000 (0-9, 3 K)

Update [2007-9-5 18:36:53 by anaconda]:

Pete Abraham reports a few lineup changes and notes that Luis Vizcaino will be shut down until Mon due to a sore shoulder.

He also notes that Wang will start on Sun on regular rest and will not let him pitch on the carpet in Toronto.
