Roger Clemens has been scratched from today's already re-scheduled start and will be pushed back until at least Monday as a result of tweaking in his left hamstring while running on Thursday.
Hopefully, Torre is just being overly cautious with both Kennedy and Clemens with the abundance of starters because these guys coming up lame with the post-season looming would be a serious cause for concern.
Let's recap: Kennedy was replaced by Rocket who is now being replaced by Phil Franchise. Here's hoping Hughes isn't replaced until the 7th inning with a sizable lead.
Hughes had one good start and one bad start against the Blue Jays this season (1-1, 4.35 ERA). Yanks have won his last 3 starts (2-0, 2.55 ERA) after losing his previous 4 starts. Now, if he could just get through his Bonderman-itis and locate his fastball in the 1st inning, he should be in good shape.
Marcum does not have good career numbers against the Yanks (1-3, 6.69 ERA in 9 games) and has been knocked around twice in 2007 (0-2, 6.06 ERA in 3 starts).
