Roger Clemens,  RHP  (5-5,  4.34)

No surprise at all, but the Yanks catch a break with Manny Ramirez out of the lineup as a result of his recurring back spasms.  I'm sure his .180 (9-50) career average against Clemens probably made the decision to sit him a lot easier.

Clemens has pretty good career numbers against the Red Sox (8-5, 3.85 ERA in 19 starts).  He has pitched very well (3-1, 2.79 ERA in 7 starts) at Yankee Stadium this season but not so well on the road (2-4, 5.93 ERA in 8 starts).

Despite his record, Beckett has been pounded by the Yanks during his Red Sox career (3-2, 7.91 ERA in 6 starts).  He is 1-0, 5.54 ERA in 2 starts against the Yanks in 2007.

Yanks are 13-2 in games where Johnny Damon starts in LF.
