After last night's dismal performances, the Star-Ledger reports that both Jeff Karstens and Jim Brower were shot at dawn. Okay, seriously, both were sent back to Scranton, including Brower, who had earned the right to refuse the option due to his service time but signed a waiver before he was called up last week.
Edwar Ramirez and Sean Henn have been recalled from Scranton to replace them on the roster.
Major changes in the lineup this afternoon with Damon, Cano, Abreu, and Giambi all sitting on the bench against the tough left-hander. Should be a helluva bench in the late innings if they are needed.
In his four major league starts, Hughes has been unhittable on the road (2-0, 0.73), but not so good at home (0-0, 10.00). Certainly a small sample-size, but worthy of note.
Bedard has decent overall numbers against the Yanks (4-3, 4.10 in 10 games), but has been outstanding in his last 4 starts (3-0, 2.08).
