Not exactly a fierce-looking lineup.  They seem to be mailing it in a bit today.

Mike Mussina has outstanding career numbers against the Twins (20-5, 3.14) in 29 starts.  Contrary to popular belief, Moose has pitched well in his last 5 starts (2-2, 2.56).

Not surprisingly, Johan Santana has good numbers against the Yankees in 4 career starts (2-0, 2.49), but has been downright sick at the Stadium (1-0, 0.56) in 3 starts.  Yikes.

Stumbled upon on this Beckett message board this morning and there is a guy with the username "nyyphily45" who claims he is Phil Hughes.  Evidently, he is a big baseball card collector and was raving about fellow Yankee prospect Joba Chamberlain's performance last night against Harrisburg (6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 12 K).

Of course, I can't confirm whether "nyyphily45" is really Hughes or an imposter, but he does claim that his first rehab start will be for the Tampa Yankees on Monday (7/09).  The Yankee blogosphere has been keeping pretty good tabs on his rehab progress and I hadn't previously heard that bit of information elsewhere.

So, if Hughes does indeed make a rehab start on Monday for the Tampa Yankees -- you heard that tidbit here first.

Born on this day in 1930 was George M. Steinbrenner III.  Also born on this day in 1948 was Harry Moskowitz aka John Sterling.  Happy Birthday, guys.
