July 18th marks a few anniversaries in Yankee history worthy of mention....

1999:  On Yogi Berra Day at the Stadium with former battery-mate, Don Larson, throwing out the first pitch and watching from the comforts of The Boss' suite, David Cone throws the 16th perfect game in MLB history with a 6-0 victory over the Montreal Expos.

Cone's line:  9.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K, 88 pitches

1995:  After coming over from the Chicago White Sox during the off-season, "Black" Jack McDowell is shelled by his former ChiSox teammates at Yankee Stadium and mercilessly booed off the field by the Yankee faithful after surrendering 9 runs on 13 hits in 4.2 IP.

McDowell responds to the boos by flipping the bird to the crowd as he walks off the field.  I still remember the BIG headlines the next day -- JACK ASS!

1987:  Don Mattingly connects for a homerun in his 8th consecutive game in a 7-2 loss against the Texas Rangers -- tying a major-league record by Dale Long, who accomplished the same feat in 1956.
