I like Matt DeSalvo, he's got guts and is pitching better in Scranton, but why not take a look at Joba Chamberlain against Tampa Bay on Saturday? Gene Michael recently said that he would have started the season with Hughes on the Yanks and wanted him called up last year. Was he right?
Stop babying these guys. Joba throws 98 mph...Give him a shot. If the Yanks can't nab another reliever during the trade deadline, he's a good bet to get called up and thrown into the bullpen so wet his whistle.
Hughes pitched again:
4 innings, 2 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts against Binghamton. Word is that he threw 58 pitches then a few more in the bullpen.
With Igawa and DeSalvo pitching a double header they better call up a truck full of pitchers to get through the double dip. How many runs will they have to score to even get a split?
