Did you watch the first episode? It's the kind of series that I'd rather rent from Netflix and go through it all at once, but John Turturro is tremendous. I've searched a bunch of reviews and the critics love it, but I'm not sold on it yet. I did enjoy the real life clips cut into the bare bones production values. Overall...it's off to a good start.
I lived in Queens during the "Son of Sam" and it was wild. My girlfriend was a blonde and she seriously wanted to dye her hair. Add in the Bronx Zoo and the rest of NYC and well...it was a colorful time for sure.
ESPN has such a meager budget that you'll never get any wide angle shots because they can't afford to make any locations look like the 70's. Expect a lot of close ups...HBO would have made it into a classic.
