As the PA diaries have already discussed today, Johnny Damon may be headed to the DL for the first time in his career with the abdominal strain. Pete Abraham reports a decision on Damon will likely come Friday.
My take: DL Damon and do whatever it takes to get him healthy. The guy isn't going to do this team any good if he's not healthy enough to simply DH every day.
Andy Pettitte has good numbers against the Rockies during his career (2-0, 2.29 in 3 starts). Not surprisingly, Jeff Francis makes his first career start tonight against the Yanks.
On this day in 1989, the New York Yankees traded OF Rickey Henderson back to the Oakland Athletics for journeymen pitchers Eric Plunk and Greg Cadaret as well as OF Luis Polonia.
Nicely done, Mr. Steinbrenner.
