The Subway Series is here again. These are two completely different teams than the last time they faced off on the weekend of May 18-20.
Roger Clemens has had his problems against the Mets during his career (3-5, 5.09 in 10 starts). Oliver Perez has been better (2-1, 4.19 in 3 career starts) against the Yankees -- including a 3-2 victory on May 18th at Shea.
It was 30 years ago today the New York Mets traded ace P Tom Seaver to the Cincinnati Reds. In return, they received P Pat Zachry, IF Doug Flynn, and minor leaguers Steve Henderson and Dan Norman. The Mets also traded slugger Dave Kingman to the Padres for utility player Bobby Valentine and a minor league pitcher.

Update [2007-6-15 18:49:34 by anaconda]:
According to Kim Jones on YES, Johnny Damon was a late scratch due to a mild abdominal strain he sustained during BP. Melky is now hitting leadoff while Josh Phelps is the DH and hitting eighth.
By the way, out-of-towners like myself and John can now watch the game via DirecTV MLB Extra Innings on Channel 736. It wasn't available on that channel here in Chicago a couple of hours ago, but it is now.
Strange, but I'll take it.
