Super-utility man [sarcasm] Miguel Cairo gets the start at 3B this afternoon while A-Rod gets a half-day off as the DH. Johnny Damon also earns a day of rest after being tuckered out from playing the field on Wed night for the first time since the Giambino went on the DL.
Andy Pettitte is on the hill but does not have good lifetime numbers against Arizona (1-5, 5.01 in 6 games), while Doug Davis takes the mound for the D-Backs and has had better luck in his career against the Yankees (3-1, 6.08 in 5 games).
On an unrelated note, I stumbled upon 38 Pitches last night and read Curt Schilling's blog entry after his dreadful performance against the Rockies.
As much as I hate to admit it, I have to give Schilling credit. If I had just gotten my ass handed to me a couple of hours earlier by a sub-par NL club, I wouldn't be in a big rush to get on my computer to write about it in detail. Kudos to him.
Okay, that's the last time I will ever say anything nice about Curt Schilling. I promise.
The featured graphic for today's game is the current road jersey logo for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Finally, in case PA regulars haven't noticed, the NY graphic I've been using for over a week made its 2007 debut last Tuesday against the White Sox and the Yanks haven't lost since. Coincidence?
Of course. But it's worth noting for those of you who believe in superstition or the Easter Bunny.
