Chien-Ming Wang, RHP (5-4, 3.73)
Chien-Ming Wang takes the mound tonight and hopes to continue the Yanks' win streak and finally get to that coveted .500 mark for the first time since May 9th. Wang has looked very sharp in his last 5 starts (4-1, 2.50) and allowed 3 runs or less in each outing.
Although Yankee offense has been rolling in the month of June, they face a big challenge tonight against 2006 NL Cy Young Award winner -- Brandon Webb. Webb has been absolutely unhittable in his last three starts (3-0, 0.82) and is averaging 7.1 IP per start for the entire season. Damn.
In completely unrelated news, it was on this day in 1939 when the National Baseball Hall of Fame officially opened its doors in Cooperstown, NY and inducted its first five players to baseball immortality -- Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, and some guy named George Herman Ruth.
