Wang nearly perfect

Kudos to Wang for pitching one of the best games of his career yesterday and giving this team a performance it so desperately needed.

On the other side, you know Jeff Weaver is having a forgettable season (even by his standards) when he surrenders 6 ER in 5.2 IP and his ERA actually goes down (18.26 - 15.35).

What a disastrous season for the former Yankee.

Also, I'm not at all a Torre basher and I think the guy gets a raw deal at times because he is not the reason why this team hasn't played well.  That doesn't mean I agree with every decision he makes because that is far from the truth.

Case and point.  Why did Torre let Brian Bruney pitch the 9th inning with a 7-run lead?

I am quite confident that most PA readers would agree that Bruney has clearly established himself as the most reliable arm in the bridge to Mariano Rivera.  Bruney shouldn't be wasted in a game that was all but decided when the team will need him Sunday and Monday when two rookies take the mound.

Torre didn't use Bruney on Friday night with a 2-run lead clearly in jeopardy and instead used Colter Bean -- only to bite them on the ass.  Yesterday, he used Bruney in a rout when the team clearly didn't need him.  I don't get it.

Finally, I hope everyone has a good time at the Stadium for Pinstripe Alley Day.  Unfortunately, I will be unable to make the trip because I live in a Chicago suburb located approximately 800 miles away from Yankee Stadium.

Feel free to post diaries and let everyone know how the day went.  I'd also be happy to post images on the front page if anyone wants to take pictures so we can actually put some faces to names.

Have a good time, fellas.
