With a few of the regulars getting the day off, there are essentially three automatic outs at the bottom of the order.
Washburn has been outstanding this season and has enjoyed a history of success against the Yankees (4-3, 2.59). Rasner is going to have his hands full trying to match him pitch-for-pitch, so perhaps 2 or 3 ER in 5 IP is about the most we can ask of him.
Kim Jones reported on the YES pregame show that Phil Hughes was officially diagnosed with "less than a Grade 2" hamstring pull and is already playing catch in the outfield. I don't know what this means as far as his timetable is concerned, but the injury doesn't appear to be as severe as originally feared.
Nonetheless, we still won't be seeing Hughes take the mound again for at least a month.
