Bobby Abreu remains in the leadoff spot as Johnny Damon sits again.
Memo to Joe Torre: Please DL Damon already and get him healthy. It doesn't make any sense to sit him a couple of games a week and he's not going to get into any kind of rhythm or find his stroke at the plate if he's not healthy.
Matt DeSalvo takes the ball today and hopes to continue his early major-league success against a team not named Seattle. Just an observation, but keep an eye on his walk total. As good as he's been at both levels this season, he still has the tendency to give up too many free passes (almost 4.5 BB/9 IP at Scranton and 6 BB in his 2 starts in the majors).
Sooner or later, issuing too many free passes at this level will come back to bite him. Bank on it.
The featured graphic is the official team logo of the Chicago White Stockings all the way back from 1901 to 1902. I'm keeping the Yanks' road grey from last night since they managed to put one in the win column for a change.
The Red Sox are playing two at Fenway today. Go Tigers!
