Jason Giambi, who has been hitting only slightly better than Doug Mientkiewicz, blasted a one out HR off of Lenny Dinardo in the wee hours of the morning to give the Yanks a much needed 4-3 victory in Oakland. But the real stars of the game were all eight pitchers that Joe had to use after an extra inning affair yesterday.
Darrell Rasner did a great job after Jeter booted a ball which lead to three runs in the first and kept the anemic A's off the scoreboard until he came out in the bottom of the sixth. Then the bullpen took over and hurled 7 2/3 of scoreless baseball.
Hopefully, Brian Bruney will now be a go to guy for Joe Torre the rest of the season as he pitched two scoreless innings for the win. His velocity was down (91 mph) because he pitched last night, but he still struck out two and captured the "w." He also leads the ream in strike outs with ten in six innings of work so far...
Even Kyle Farnsworth pitched a scoreless inning...No, really...I'm too tired to say much more. Pettitte needs to go at least seven innings tomorrow or Cashman will be forced to sign Roger Clemens by the fifth inning to complete the game...
Four more errors...OUCH...
Manky is hitting so bad that Ken Singleton was getting excited when he was popping fairly routine fly balls to right field for outs...
