Rasner signs!

Chad Jennings reports that Darrel Rasner has signed a minor league deal with the Yankees.

He'd have to win back his spot on the 40-man before he can make the team, so for now he's just minor league filler.

Oh yeah, somebody else re-signed with the Yankees, too. He got a major league deal.

While we're on the subject, I didn't have a chance to comment about it at the time, but check out Arod's new contract at Cot's:

08:$27M, 09:$32M, 10:$32M, 11:$31M, 12:$29M, 13:$28M, 14:$25M, 15:$21M, 16:$20M, 17:$20M

It's not backloaded!

While some of that financial flexibility could be lost due to the huge performance clauses for the record breaking homeruns, I hope this represents a refusal by the administration to hand out backloaded deals.

Given the rate of inflation in MLB salaries, $21 million for a 39-year old Arod might actually be palatable (knock on wood).
