Bronx Bound: Free Baseball!

New, comments

Javelinas 4, Scottsdale 3/ 10 innings.

Gardner 1-5, 3K, CS (first time in the AFL)
Miranda 0-3, 2BB, 0K

Ohlendorf 1.2IP, 3H, 1BB, 0K
Wordekemper 2.0IP, 1H, 1K

Ohlendorf came into the game with 1 out and a man on first in the bottom of the 7th. He got a quick out before allowing a single and a double (he fell behind both batters). Only the inherited runner scored. The next batter flew out.
Ross came back for the 8th after a long wait (the Javelinas scored 2 in the 8th to make it 2-3). He feel behind 3-0 on the first batter, got back to 3-2 on a pair of foul tips before walking him. The next batter ground out, but the third batter singled on a 2-0 pitch.
To this point, Ohelndorf has thrown 12 pitches in the inning and 8 of them have been balls. He must have made some adjustment because 6 of his next 7 pitches were strikes and he got out of the inning.

Wordekemper was much better. The first batter he faced in the 9th had a bunt single on the second pitch. Fly to center, fly to left, grounder to short. When he came out for the 10th to close the game he got an infield pop, a grounder to short, and a strikeout. 30 pitches, 20 strikes.
Wordekemper hasn't given up a run since his first appearance in the AFL.
