Finally. The Yanks and Arizona reach a deal that sends the inconsistent aging future hall of famer Randy Johnson.
The Yankees will receive four players from Arizona -- including major league reliever Luis Vizcaino, pitching prospect Ross Ohlendorf and minor league shortstop Alberto Gonzalez -- and will send $2 million to the D'backs to offset Johnson's $16 million salary in 2007. WFAN reported Thursday the deal also would include Class AA pitcher Steven Jackson.
The Yankees have stockpiled quite a number of good young(ish) arms. I have a feeling that one more piece of big news will happen. The salary space is cleared for a young big named pitcher: someone who can anchor the staff for years to come. I think that may be more likely than signing Clemens for 2 months.
