Yes, the Yanks won 4-1 and yes, Gary Sheffield made his debut at first base and yes Wang pitched another fine seven innings to get his 18th win. That's all true, but none of it matters because the real story is the Sandman is back!
Mariano Rivera closed out a game for the first time since Aug. 31 and outside of a little control problem--threw the ball oh so magnificently in chalking up his 34th save. Nothing else matters at this point if Rivera could not pitch the rest of the way. The Yanks would kiss their World Series desires goodbye if The Great One was not part of the team. He's back and he looked beautiful.
