Who would have thought the Red Sox winning three of four in New York in September would have no real impact to either team. The Yankees must wait to pop the champagne corks and the Sox leave the city with the a meaningless moral victory.
The Yanks, like their crosstown rival Mets, are taking a little longer finishing off the second place teams. Jeter's hitting streak comes to an end, the pen blew a fine performance by Moose and the Bombers looked sluggish all weekend. Their magic number is four and they'll have to wait a few more days to clinch. Hopefully they'll do it on the field instead of a jet flying to Tampa Bay.
