The Yankees Are On The Clock

Today is Draft Day. I love all sports drafts. The jockeying for position, the decisions that affect future roster moves, the tension, the promise. Baseball is different in that there are SO many prospects drafted. You don't know whether you'll pick up the next Mike Piazza in the bottom of the barrel or have your first pick be that guy who no one has heard from since he was first drafted:

The Yanks first pick is a local boy...for me, anyway.

RHP IAN KENNEDY - USC

Our Supplemental first rounder is another pitcher:

RHP JOBA CHAMBERLAIN - NEBRASKA

I'll pop in throughout the day to update, but mlb.com has a great draft tracker. Looks like pitching is our priority this year.

A 6'5 230 lb. High School Kid is next: RHP ZACHARY MCALLISTER

OF COLIN CURTIS - Arizona State and RHP GEORGE KONTOS - Northwestern were taken next.
