The 2006 season is underway. Well, underwater right now, but nonetheless baseball is back. I've done my fantasy draft and shocked the league with my picks of Kris Benson, and Barry Bonds. Steroids or not, I'll take that OPS and those BB's any day. I've got five Bombers; Giambi, Cano, Farnsworth, Posada, Villone...and Sturtze on the bench. Not a bad haul I think.
As with every new season virtual and real, hope springs eternal. I haven't felt this good about the Yanks since 2001. Our bullpen is in much better shape and our lineup is as fearsome as it ever has been. A new year, a new team, a new season and all is right with the world. America's pasttime is back, baby!!!! That being said, I'd like to start this year with a quote by Walt Whitman:
"I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game. It will take our people out-of-doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a larger physical stoicism. Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set. Repair these losses, and be a blessing to us."
