Dontrelle Willis...America's Shame

The title is, of course, in jest. But Willis had another terrible outing and Hee Sop Choi's bat got all Kimchi on the American pitching staff sending the U.S. to the brink of being eliminated again with their 7-3 loss.Derek Jeter had three hits and was on of the few bright spots on the U.S. team which faces elimination from the tournament yet again.

"We had our chances right from the first inning," Jeter said. "We just didn't get any hits with guys on base. I don't know if you can learn from it. I'm well aware of what it takes to win. We just didn't do it."
Hopefully our guys can pull through and win this godforsaken tournament. Otherwise it might go down in the annals of U.S. sports embarrasments like the disastrous U.S. Olympic All-Star hockey team that finished out of medal contention and the 2004 Olympic Dream Team that barely captured the bronze. And if all else fails, hopefully the competetiveness of this tourney would have put A-Rod, Damon, and Jeter in the right baseball mind to have a great opening of the season.
