Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports reports:
Exit Frank Thomas. Enter Mike Piazza.
The Oakland A's have agreed to a one-year, $8.5 million deal with the free agent, FOXSports.com has learned.
Piazza's agent, Dan Lozano, did not comment.
Piazza, 38, will be the A's full-time designated hitter, replacing Thomas, who signed a two-year, $19.12 million free-agent contract with the Blue Jays earlier this off-season.
The A's had been one of the teams interested in Barry Bonds, but their greater need was for a right-handed hitter. They still figure to add one more bat, and are considering free agents Cliff Floyd and Jay Payton, among others.
