The Yanks signed Cuban infielder Juan Miranda to a 4-year, $2.07 million contract on Friday. Scouts have been impressed observing the skills of the former teammate of Jose Contreras.
The 23-year old played with the Cuban team Pinar Del Rio from 2002-04, and batted .303 with 27 homers and 73 walks. He also had 87 strikeouts.
Seems like a no-lose signing of a guy who can maybe make a difference, for not too many clams.
