I meant to write about this sooner:
--Free agent RHP Guillermo Mota signed a two-year, $5 million contract to remain with the Mets. Mota will miss the first 50 games of next season to serve a suspension for violating MLB's substance-abuse policy.
Here's a guy who obviously needed to juice up to be an effective pitcher, gets caught and is rewarded with 5 million dollars. That might have been a good opportunity for the Mets and MLB to make a statement against steroid users. I guess they just did.
