Open Thread: Game 12-Yanks get swept 8-4

Kevin Brown making his first start of the season got pummeled in the first two innings, giving up six runs and virtually losing the game before it ever got started. He did settle down and pitched four effective innings after that, so maybe there is some hope that he can rebound and possibly help the Yanks in the long term. That's a big if!

So instead of this season looking like this:

Its resembling this:

The Boss is not very happy right now and issued this statement after the game:

"Enough is enough. I am bitterly disappointed, as I'm sure all Yankee fans are, by the lack of performance by our team," Steinbrenner said in a statement issued immediately after the game. "It is unbelievable to me that the highest-paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk. They are not playing like true Yankees. They have the talent to win and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff and the team to turn this around."

I wish I had the music Mike and the Mad Dog play when they read one of George's statements.

On the bright side:

*A-Rod finally hit the ball hard a couple of times.

On the downside:

*They need a lefty in the bullpen.

*They need a righty in the bullpen.

*They need a bullpen.

Stanton has shown about as much velocity as Jamie Moyer.
Felix Rodriquez has a live arm, but is wild.
Tom Gordon still looks shell-shocked from last year's playoffs.
Paul Quantrill hasn't come close to being the pitcher he was for the Dodgers.
Steve Karsay? What can I say there.

The upside?

The Devil Rays are coming in for two games.
