Yankees lose bullpen coach Mike Harkey to Diamondbacks

Elsa

The Diamondbacks are set to hire Yankees bullpen coach Mike Harkey as their new pitching coach. An announcement is said to be coming on Monday. Harkey had been with the team since 2008, when Joe Girardi was first hired, and had just agreed to a new contract with the organization, along with the rest of the coaching staff.

The Yankees will have to find a replacement for Harkey this offseason. They could consider Triple-A pitching coach Scott Aldred, who the Diamondbacks also interviewed, or go outside the organization for a new bullpen coach.

Harkey will join manager Kirk Gibson, bench coach Alan Trammell, hitting coach Turner Ward, first base coach Dave McKay, and third base coach Glenn Sherlock as a part of the coaching staff in Arizona.
