neutral series site
I woke up this morning like i usually do, to mike and mike rambling on about something i usually dont care about. But something got my attention and that was buster olney advocating a neutral site for the world series. it immediately woke me up in my morning daze because it infuriated me. His arguments for the neutral site were that it's too cold, the game is meant to be played in the summer, it's no fun for fans, the super bowl is a big event, next year it will be pushed back a week...im sure most of the points have been heard here. he also pointed out that gammons was on the same boat, to which i found one blog entry.
i feel like baseball should do what they can to NOT have a neutral site. It takes away from the fans and it would be a mess in the city chosen for a week. I would assume most people are only going to go to one game. Madness would come over the hotels and such everyday with people trying to get into and out of town. Also, I dont understand why these series' keep getting pushed back further and further. Gammons made an interesting point which i kind of liked, to shorten the season to 148 games. The steriod era probably won't be taken seriously anyway and screw the records, we shouldn't be playing in November. I dont know how serious he was in that comment, but maybe 'ol bud should consider it. Olney gave the impression that selig was opposed to a neutral site, but also hinted that it would be discussed.
I really don't want the world series to be like the super bowl at all. That two week layoff for hours of pregame and festivities is a waste. I realize its one of the biggest money makers, but play the game. If that happens to the world series and we have MTV showing up for rock n jock baseball games, i will be sorely disappointed. I hope they chose neutral sites because i dont really want to go to miami or san diego to see st louis play in the series, i want to go to st louis.

Question for a Photo
Hi,
I will start off by saying I have been in SBNation for awhile, but not with Pinstripe Alley. Im a graduate student at SIU-Carbondale, a die hard Stl Fan, and consider myself a knowledgeable baseball fan. If the editor/writers feel like deleting this post, by all means go ahead.
I have a question about a past Reggie Jackson photo and that I have been searching for the past few days. I swear I've seen a picture of Reggie in the middle of a crowd of photographers and fans with a large "protest" type sign. What I mean by protest is that the sign is on a stick and the sign is about 4x4ft in size. On the sign it simply says, "Hi, I'm Reggie Jackson". I think the picture is hilarious and some of my friends don't believe me. I believe I saw it on a Sportscentury episode a year or so ago, but with my dead end in searching, I've almost convinced myself that I saw it on "The Bronx is Burning".
I know this isn't anything important to you guys, but this is just killing me. Can anybody tell me if they remember seeing this picture too? If they can, can you point me in the right direction to get it or just put a link on the response for me? Once again, this community feels like deleting this, go right ahead. Im in the midwest so I doubt I'll hunt you down. Thanks. Steve.

First Pitch Tickets
I have plans to go to all three games against the Cubbies this weekend. I originally had tickets to friday and saturday and planned on scalping tickets sunday. Now i only have a ticket for saturday but already had plans to take people to stl on friday so i figure i might as well go to the game. I have always had good luck finding a good price scalping tickets outside the stadium so im not too worried about finding something, i just want to get in. My question is more focused on the sunday night game.
Has anyone ever tried to get these first pitch tickets? I was under the impression that there were more tickets available, but according to the website there are only 125. This is new to the organization, i think, and very new to me. Im staying at a friends place in stl on saturday so im confident i can make it to the stadium by 9am to get in line for these first pitch tix. Are these really tix worth it? Are they really hard to get? It sounds like its a crapshoot on where your tickets are, but like i said earlier, i just want to get in.

Wainwright
I was down in Jupiter last week, 9th through the 14th, and something hit me as I was traveling back home. I never saw Wainwright the whole week. I can't remember reading anything about him being hurt and haven't seen any discusssions on here about him so I assume he is in good health. Am I forgetting an injury or something? If not, got any ideas as to where he could have been because I pretty much saw everybody else there.

cuban's cubbies..
new article this morning about cuban officially putting his name to buy the cubs. i hope he doesnt get them. i know we're talkin apples in oranges here, but he did take a shitty nba team and turned them around pretty damn quick. if you have somebody like him on top who is willing to spend $$, you will probably be pretty good. at the same time, the cubbies just spent 300 mil and look where it has them now..

Preston
i cant take hold it in any longer. preston has to get rid of the rag thing on his head and get a tighter cap and helmet. he can't walk three steps without it falling off, let alone on a dead sprint. it reminds me of being in little league and making your hat too big so it looks like you're running faster. he looks like he belongs with the mets, not st. louis.
he needs to hit a lot more homers like today for me to let him get buy with that thing.
