5 years for AJ Burnett?

According to ESPN and MLBTradeRumors, the Yankees have offered a guaranteed 5 years for Burnett somewhere around 80MM.  I personally love this move because it doesn't show the new Bosses being afraid of injury.  You can't base your decisions around what might happen.  So, I have two question.  What do you guys think about the rotation now possibly having AJ and CC?  And, Should we sign anyone else, and if so, who would you like?

Trades to be Thankful For

This Thanksgiving I want to open a thread to commemorate the trades that we loved, or the rumors that we would have hated and are thankful never became trades.

I have two trades: one I am eternally thankful for, and one I am equally as thankful didnt happen.

We Made: Babe Ruth to the Yankees/ Jock Strap to the Red Sox.  This will go down as the greatest trade in sports history for all time.  So I am thankful to God, the Yankees, and the dumb BoSox for making this a reality.

We Avoided: Once upon a time, Joe DiMaggio was almost traded for Ted Williams in a straight swap.  Although Teddy Ballgame is a great hitter, Joey D is the greatest baseball player that ever lived (in my humble opinion).  Who knows what would have changed if this trade had gone through, but I am Thankful that I only have to speculate.

Please by all means make your references modern, but I just thought these two were the most important.

Happy Thanksgiving: and this year, as always, I am thankful to be a Yankee fan

Still think we should cut Ben?

To all of you haters who were up on Ben last week, he played really well today.  He may not have had the touchdowns, but he still played a heck of a game.

Thank you to the Steelers for playing hard today and not throwing this one away.  Hines played hard and got flagged for some bull.  The refs were horrible, even the announcers talked about it once.  Lets just be glad we have a great team and organization.

To those of you who ragged on Ben.....

Jake Peavy

Jake Peavy's agent was basically swooning over the idea of his client being in pinstripes.  Some say it would take Hughes to get him, but I think this offer is as good as anyone could as for.  Better than what the Mets gave for Johan.  Anyone want to give ideas on a better idea than this for a trade?  Or a better idea for making our team better.  I mean, how many people are really going to miss any of those 3 guys?

Robinson Cano, Ian Kennedy, Andrew Brackman, and cash for Jake Peavy

Sign CC. Dont waste money on Lowe or Burnett(or maybe sign Lowe, we have all the money in the world, and I dont know how much the top brass likes him). Put Joba in the rotation.  Plan on Hughes making it into the rotation in August if they dont want Joba to go over innings, put Joba into setup role, and then cruise to the playoffs.  Wang would be our third starter(a perennial 19 game winner as our 3 guy? daaammnnn)

Sign Moose for 2 years 25 million.

Rotation:

CC Sabathia

Jake Peavy

CM Wang

Joba Chamberlain/Phil Hughes

Mike Mussina

Batting Order:

1) Damon

2) Jeter

3) Tex

4) A-Rod

5) Posada

6) Matsui

7) Nady

8) Melky

9) Orlando Hudson

Cano

Buster Olney reported that every team that needed a second baseman has contacted the Yankees about Cano.  Most of you may think that Manny is the solution at 2nd, but I would rather see his range at short and put Cano at second.  If you give him a pass on him April numbers, he hit .297 for the season.  Ya down form the .330 he usually sits at, but still really good.

Here is the proposal you will all hate...

Cano for Sanchez and Sandoval.

Sanchez is good enough, but Cano could be a HOF player, and Sandoval is a few years from not having a spot on our team anyways with Connor, Buster, and Angel taking over the only spots he can play.

2009 Yankees: Best team ever

This is how we do it. I know there is a lot of work to be done, and that a lot of others have speculated similar things, but I have never seen all this together. And anyone who bitches about team chemistry doesn't understand that Derek Jeter owns everyone who walks through those doors just like Dimaggio did. There will be no chemistry problems(that hurt the team that is). Plus, winning cures all. So here we go, by position, line-up and salary: includes bench and pen. 1B: Mark Texiera(7 yrs-160 mil) 2B: Orlando Hudson(4 yrs-16 mil) SS: Derek Jeter(21.6 mil) 3B: Alex Rodriguez(28 mil) C: Jorge Posada(13.1 mil) LF: Johnny Damon(13 mil) CF: Matt Kemp(arb. 500k) RF: Xavier Nady(6 mil?) DH: Manny Ramirez(4 yrs-85 mil) SP: CC Sabathia(7 yrs-185 mil) SP: C. Ming Wang(arb. 5 mil?) SP: Joba Chamberlain(arb 800k) SP: Derek Lowe(4 yrs-60 mil) SP: Mike Mussina(2 yrs-25 mil) Bench: Jose Molina(1.9 mil) Wilson Betemit(1.2) Case Blake(3 yrs-21 mil) Melky Cabrera(arb. 400k) Pen: Cl: Mariano Rivera(15 mil) SU: Brian Fuentes(4 yrs-50 mil) LR: Brian Bruney(arb. 800k) LR: Damaso Marte(6 mil) MR: Phil Hughes(arb. 600k) MR: Ian Kennedy(arb. 400k) MR: Humberto Sanchez(arb. 400k) Total: $236.23 mil I think this is worth a dynasty for the next 4 years at least... Lineup: 1) Johnny Damon 2) Derek Jeter 3) Manny Ramirez 4) Alex Rodriguez 5) Mark Texiera 6) Jorge Posada 7) Xavier Nady 8) Matt Kemp 9) Orlando Hudson Ok, how could we not win the world series? That line up has 5 sure fire Hall of Famers, and damon and kemp could get there. Now obviously we are missing Bobby Abreu, who we offer arbitration to, and pray he declines, cause if he doesnt we lose Manny. Giambi goes back to Oakland, but thank you for the time(you really were a great hitter). But the two big names people expect back for us are Hideki and Robinson Cano. We trade Cano and Matsui for Kemp and a mid level prospect. I dont want to sell low on Cano, cause I truly believe he is a Hall of Famer, but we traded Soriano and that isnt killing us. I just think CF is a more important position than 2B. So take the trade, and sign Hudson who is a hell of a defender and would make a good 9 hitter. CC wont be affected by his pitching workload, the man is a mule(I mean that in the best possible way). Lowe hates the Sox and pitches great in the AL East. Moose deserves another few years, and even if he only wins 14-15, that is damn good from your 5 guy. and obviously Wang is good for 18 wins if healthy and a full year of Joba with an ERA below 3? Man, our staff alone could win us 80 games. Our line up will mash. If you get passed Manny, you get Alex. And if by the grace of God you get passed both of them? Oh, no worries, you still have to get passed the best 1B in the game. Did I mention he is a switch hitter? Every other team is screwed. If Hank is really set on winning like George, then he will spend whatever is necessary to make this team happen. We arent even talking about selling the future, just getting rid of some old guys and giving up on one young player(Cano), but getting another(Kemp) back in return. This is Cashman's philosophy mixed with Hank and George's spend whatever it takes. I know it is easy for us to just talk about this, but it isnt like we are the Royals, all of these players, except CC, have made it clear they would love to play in New York, or at least for a winner. And CC will come around for the benjamins. I live in California, it is great, but I would burn the state down for 185 million dollars. Let me know what you think. If I am an idiot, or if you think I should be annointed as Cashman's successor. All opinions are welcome.

Shaun Alexander

Anyone think that he would be a good stop gap for us?  He breaks easily, but I mean, we wont be counting on him forever, and if he does break, we are just back right where we are now.  It was only a few years ago he was an MVP and one of the best running backs in football.  He will take some pressure off Ben.  I want to know what you all think,  but I just cant see a downside to this.  I think he is a lot like Byron, just needs a shot on a good team.  And when Willie comes back he will make a good back up.  He is better than anyone else we could bring in there.

Favorite Yankee Stadium Moment

I know people have probably been doing this for a long time, but I am new to this site and am wondering if people would like to share their favorite moments about the stadium with me.  Being from California, I have only been to NY once, so all of my favorite moments have come from afar.

My personal favorite moment is Gehrig's Luckiest Man speech.

I am asking this though because I plan on writing a book about a specific Yankee moment, and what led up to it and then followed it.  So please give me a real thing and try to lay off the sarcasm.

p.s. If you are annoyed by these questions, please dont tell me that, just skip this forum.  If you have anything good to say, I welcome it.  Thank you for your help.

Homer's Epic: Roethlisberger

Big Ben. Who, was originally called Big Ben at birth when he was born with a 14 inch Dick. He grew into a gentle 1 year old baby, and while he was still growing his hair, took the name Ron Jeremy to the porn industry.  After the age of 3 however, none of the female "actors" could take his massive junk, so he moved on to bigger and better things.  This is when he picked up football.  He had to take up all that mojo in something, so he became a quarterback.  Of course by age 7, he became supreme ruler of the football field and was swiftly promoted to God-King of Earth.  After centuries of peace and lust, he stepped down from his throne to pick up the game he loved most in the only city that was worthy of him: Heaven on Earth...Pittsburgh, PA.  Our story is still unfinished, but I can only imagine how big his "Big Ben" is now, but the only people who can take its massive girth are Goddesses on Mount Olympus, and they wont return my calls. See Zeus, this is what you get when you challenge Jesus to a cock fight…

Annnyywho. Go Steelers!

Willie Anderson

We need to petition the Steelers to sign Anderson.  ProBowl lineman, maybe isnt tackle material anymore, but sure as hell would make a great guard.  Mr. Tomlin, please do this for us, we will win the superbowl with this move...(knock on wood).

Also, goodbye Charlie.  If this is truly the end of you with us, I hope you move to Pittsburgh for good so that the community can appreciate you the way you deserve.  If there was a Hall of Fame for Heart, or just for being a good guy, I think you would go in first.  Thanks for giving yourself for the team, the fans appreciate it more than you can ever know.
