Manny question...

given that many of the PA readers are more knowlegeable than I, I was wondering what would be wrong with giving Manny an incentive driven contract (if he would accept)?  No doubt he can hit, no doubt we need some "bop" in the lineup, and many question whether he will give up midseason etc...so what is wrong with a contract that his salary is based on his stats, how far they go in the playoffs etc...this would seemingly keep him interested in playing hard, not to mention going against the Red Sox potentially 18+ times.  Any insight would be appreciated.

Red Sox outbid...?

Sportscenter just reported breaking news that the Red Sox owner, Henry, said the Red Sox are no longer a factor for the Tex bid.  They do not have all the news except that perhaps they may have been outbid.

That's all fine and dandy with me.  If the Yankees are not going to get him, I prefer he go anywhere but the Red Sox, perhaps the Yankees ; ) haha I doubt it, but it remains to be seen.

Offer to CC: "Not going to be there forever"

According to foxsports, Hal says the offer not going to be there forever.  I assume they know what they are doing, but is it really a good idea to "threaten" probably the most sought after free agent?  I guess they, the yankees, along with every other team, would like to get the ball rolling and that probably is not going to happen until CC signs somewhere.  Well hopefully he ends up in pinstripes and I hope to see him sooner than later.

News on Joba

MSN:

"I'll be throwing in a week. I'll probably throw the beginning of next week," Chamberlain said Friday when he arrived at the Yankees' spring training complex. "Everything feels fine now."

I don't really have anything to add other than that all sounds like great news

Great news is an understatement compared to how I felt when Joba walked off the mound holding his shoulder.
