Around SBN: Has Kentucky Improved Since the Non-Conference Season?

Tyler Kepner of the NYTimes

"I don't throw really hard, but if I throw a fastball right at your knees on the outside corner, and if I repeat all my mechanics, the hitter will either give up on it or he'll swing and he'll get himself out," Kennedy said. "That's what I feel confident in: if I execute this, he'll get himself out."
Not really any new information, but some interesting quotes.
[AA catcher PJ. Pilittere said Kennedy had such command of his fastball that he could probably throw no other pitches and still succeed.
Update A quick followup with some pitching notes from LoHud:
Farnsworth has changed his mechanics (specifically when he breaks his hands) on the advice of Dave Eiland to eliminate how much he dragged his arm last season. That tended to flatten out his slider. Then thrown right, it’s a great pitch for him.
Remember that quote about the Yankees finally having a pitching coach after years of Gator? The gut check said Mussina, but upon further review Farnsworth is a great candidate.

Here we go again
Farnsworth is sitting on a tremendous opportunity in 2008. For obvious reasons, Torre lost confidence in him, and Guidry likely didn't offer any help either. So in a sense, Farnsworth became the troubled teen with a world of potential, but no one to draw it out.

Now he's got Dave Eiland and Girardi and a chance to elevate his game. As I've said before, I'm hopeful Farnsworth blossoms this season and shows everyone what he is capable of.

As for Eiland making a subtle change in Farnzie's mechanics, don't underestimate the change. Last season, I noticed many times when Farnzie's slider flattened (and got killed). Often I screamed suggestions at Guidry to bring more tilt. Nothing ever happened.

Maybe this season something will happen, and Yankees fans will be the benefactors!

The Song remains the same
The player fails and is given no responsibility. The line of guys with reinvented mechanics stretches around the block. First it was Mels fault than Gator. Now Eiland works with Igawa and Farnsworth and gets to pull a rabbit out of the tired hat.
