No Option for Andy
Pete Abe is reporting that Pettitte's new deal won't include an option for 2009.
It's a minor point on a great day, but we're likely to face as big an overhaul next offseason as we did this offseason.
Pettitte, Mussina, Giambi, Abreu, Farnsworth will all come off the books. Oh yeah, Carl Pavano, too.

Major Overhaul ... Of what?
With the exception of Pettitte, and possibly Abreu (but not at his asking price) there isn't one guy I'd give a rat's ass for.
We are draining the swamp after this season, and it's a beautiful thing!

Whooo
Hopefully the Yanks will have an OF of Gardner/Jackson/Tabata/Melky and a rotation of Hughes/Joba/Wang/Kennedy/Horne + Betances and a payroll of 140 (assuming Tex is signed).

Poor planning?
If he goes DFA, that trade value drops to zero. Was somebody asleep at the switch or am I missing something?
