Twins/Rays Trade?
Hmmmm. very interesting:
The Twins would acquire outfielder Delmon Young in exchange for right-hander Matt Garza, sources told ESPN.com's Keith Law. The potential swap was first reported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which reported the deal could involve as many as six players, with shortstop Jason Bartlett and reliever Juan Rincon going to Tampa Bay in the deal and shortstop Brendan Harris and outfield prospect Jason Pridie coming to Minnesota.
I don't see Young as a center fielder, but how does this effect a trade for Santana? Do the Angels now get a leg up with their extra starting pitchers and minor leaguers? Or will their pursuit of little Manny remove them from the equation?

This hurts the NYY alot.
This means Melky is no longer really needed by MIN. I think this means that any trade package from NY would hurt a lot more than if Melky was needed.

Or...
If they can flip Moreau to the Angels for Ervin Santana and Casey Kotchman and Nathan to some one for more young talent, maybe the could find room for a 25M player. That would be some damn impressive GM work.

Ummm...
Pridie is more an adequate in the short term and probably equivalent to Melky offensively.
Lets not forget that the Twins have to unload Nathan as well.
So then can sit on Santana (they have the money to extend him if they like), and ask for 2 blue chip pitchers.
I think instead of Kennedy+Melky+others it becomes: 2 of the trinity or one of the trinity + Cano.
From the Sox: Buchholz + Ellsbury + Lowrie would be the asking price I'd assume.
They can flip Nathan to a team for a CF and 3B and put Neshek in as closer.
This is pretty bad for the Yanks. The asking price is going to be awfully high and it might be best to forget Johan and ask after Haren.

It also hurts BOS
As for Santana still being dealt, it looks like the Twins would still be willing:

The Twins are talking to teams about staff ace Johan Santana and could deal closer Joe Nathan as well.
The Twins would be expected to land at least one starting pitcher if Santana and/or Nathan is dealt. That would make up for the loss of Garza, a top pitching prospect. The Twins also need a center fielder and third baseman.
It was learned on Wednesday that the Twins have shown some interest in free agent center fielder Aaron Rowand, but it's unclear if they've made a contract offer.

PS
The Rays didn't get Rincon, but got the Twins 4th ranked prospect: 21 year old Eduardo Morlan. Apparently their Joba, and the K rates seem to agree :D
