'Shocked' Bruney told to go home

NY Post:

How far did Brian Bruney fall?

A year ago, he pitched in three of the four ALDS games. Yesterday, the Yankees told him to go home, opting to not include the right-handed reliever around like they did with Ross Ohlendorf, Chris Britton and Jose Veras.

"I was shocked," Bruney said.

I'd be surprised if Bruney was wearing Yankee pinstripes in 2008.  The guy can't throw strikes to save his life and has a terrible attitude on top of it.  Not a very good combination.

Hard to believe I actually supported this guy earlier this season.

I liked him last year
he has talent, but really fell badly...The Yanks will not release him. Pitching is worth too much...Even errratic ones. If he ever gains some control, he could still be effective. If not, very good trade bait..

Final rosters are not due until Thursday
but here's what we've got so far....

Wang, Pettitte, Clemens, Moose, Hughes Mo, Joba, Viz, and Farnsworth.

The last two slots have yet to be officially chosen, but the contenders are:

Veras, Ohlendorf, Villone, Britton, and Edwar

Gotta figure Villone will get one slot since he is the lefty, so it's up to Torre who gets the last one.

I heard
a report the other day that said that Torre said that Veras and Ohlendorf were good but Ramirez was great.  I was wondering if he was watching the same pitchers I was watching.

I heard that too
Torre likes Edwar because there is such a contrast between him and the other guys who throw hard.

Unfortunately, he's not reliable.  That one-trick pony stuff only lasts so long before you become a BP pitcher.
