Game 3 ALDS overflow thread

Good night. I've got less frustrating things to do. If the Yanks don't win tomorrow, It better be the last day I ever see Jaret Wright in New York City.

I can't watch however. I'm just half listening.  Bruney seems to be the only guy we've been able to be proud of.  Even if he comes through what can we do?

Was Bruney
ever a starter like in AAA?

Now you know about Bruney
He sucked with the DBacks and now he sucks with you.  Enjoy him while you can.  He is certain to make a big splash in the Yanks minor league system after your demise in today's contest.

The worst part of all of this
Is that if we can pull off a miracle tomorrow, we probably win this series. Not going to happen, which is why turing Rogers into Koufax tonight is such a dagger.

Yeah
Jaret Wright will go five innings max, then the completely gassed setup corps will get touched up. Not that it will matter though as our hitters have all found their way to the milk carton at the same time.

Self-referential
They enjoy talking about themselves more than the game.  That's the sign of a really poor announcer, who thinks they're the star instead of the people on the field.

Randy Johnson pushed a camera man too. Except that now he's over the hill, he can't push a cameraman anymore, but Kenny Rogers? He can still shove the Yankees on their ass.

Repeats
When your team won't spend money on good pitching -- aside from a fifty nine year old man whose only good playoff year was in 2001 -- you're going to have this type of repeat.

by TruthtoPower on Oct 7, 2006 12:46 AM EDT up reply actions

Fastball..

Wang
Bring back Wang on short rest for game 4.  Sinkerballers do better when they're tired.  Of course, if they win, I don't know what the hell you do for game 5.

by SP on Oct 6, 2006 10:38 PM EDT reply actions

I thought about that too
but Torre won't do it, because if they do win, who goes in game 5

Wright can come up big tomorrow. But if the hitters are going to stay asleep it won't matter.

Pride

Well tomorrow we will see what this bunch is made of. I am not holding my breath. If they lose this series Torre has to go. They have just looked unprepared and that falls on the coaching. Bernie was a gamble and it did not pay off but that is not why we lost. This is the Anaheim series all over again. Both of them.

by tiyuri on Oct 6, 2006 10:45 PM EDT reply actions

Please
don't blame this on Torre and Bernie.  They are the least of the Yankees' problems.
I'd say timely hitting is the problem.  And that's something you can't control.

by pfistyunc on Oct 6, 2006 10:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Preparedness
I did not blame Bernie, in fact my exact words were "that is not why we lost". It is on Torre though. They are not prepared for what they are facing when they are letting pitches down the middle go by and swinging at stuff out of the zone. In the 5th or 6th inning ESPN did a monatge of all the outs we had made to that point with kzone overlayed only two put strikes in play for outs.

by tiyuri on Oct 6, 2006 10:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Sorry but this absolutely Torre's fault
he pulls apart a team that had WON the East title together, and reinserts the guys who, professional hitters or no, have done fuck all in three years of postseason play

this team looks nothing at all like the team that swept Boston, not in play, not in attitude, not in excitement -- nothing and that's ALL torre's responsibility

by detroit yankee on Oct 6, 2006 10:57 PM EDT up reply actions

More Pitchers, Less Mercenaries
I never want to hear another "Murder's Row" comparison again. I am sick of hearing the phrase "best lineup ever" when that lineup has only advanced one single runner the entire freakin' game. The status quo isn't working, and if whatever adjustments that are made for tomorrow (if any) don't work, the philosphy in the Bronx needs to change.

This ain't yer usual Tigers team
Well...when are you Yankees fans and NY media gonna start taking the Tigers seriously?  Maybe NOW?

Lessee...zero Yankees runs since the 4th inning of Game 2...5 Yankee hits tonite...the Yankees were 0-18 with runners on base tonite...8 Yankees struck out...um...you whiners and complainers can diss A-Rod all you want, but the fact of the matter is that Rogers dominated the entire Yankee lineup tonite.

"Reminds me of Schilling.  Overpumped middle aged punk who thinks he's saving the world by pitching."

Huh?  Sounds like your crybaby towel overfloweth with tears.

"Leyland sure has balls pulling Rogers when he's four outs away from a complete game shutout.  i'm suprised Rogers didn't slug him!"

In a post-game interview, Leyland said that Rogers was getting a bit tired.  Did you see and hear the roar from the crowd as Rogers walked to the dugout?  Did that look like a man who was ready to slug the best skipper the Tigers have had for many, many years?  Yeah, Rogers looked really pissed <sarcasm> as he tipped his cap, waved, and touched his chest while walking off the field.  Oh, and then the Zoomer comes on, waxes ass, and Jones comes on in the ninth to blank the middle of the lineup (I guess Todd was off his feed tonite...usually when he pitches, he lets at least one batter per inning on base.  Gotta talk to him about that).  Oh, and wait...Leyland pulled Verlander after he'd gotten to a 1-1 count with a man on base...the Zoomer choked the Yankees for the next five at-bats (three strikeouts...gotta love that 103 MPH heat)...I seriously doubt that either Verlander or Rogers will ever complain, because they're TEAM players who trust Leyland implicitly.

Yup, I'm pumped.  I'm concerned about Bonderman tomorrow, given that he's been having some serious problems in the last several weeks of the season...it'll be interesting to see what Leyland does if Bondo gets in trouble early.

Y'all got tight assholes yet?
