If the offense doesn't start performing pronto, we'll begin ritualistically sacrificing first basemen.
In lieu of drawing straws, Giambi, Betemit, Duncan, and Ensberg will exchange forearm bashes. First one to wince lays on the altar.
I'm not an especially emotional guy. I don't get weepy at any point in Field of Dreams, and I try not to get too worked up over the roller coaster of the season.
But this gets me teary-eyed.

I’m trying to say it humbly, but it doesn’t matter what I say, it’s going to come out cocky. You just know. I woke up today and told my wife, I just have a feeling I’m going to make these guys look stupid.

"The expectations of who I am supposed to be and what I am supposed to do finally got to me," Tabata told The Trenton Times through a translator. "I made an irrational decision. Maybe it was immaturity, inexperience or just that I didn’t know how to handle what was happening. I just kept thinking I am not producing the way I should be and maybe I didn’t belong here."
Tabata suspension follow-up via LoHud.
Add this to the list of reasons I try not to follow any prospects too closely before they have success at AA.

As for on the mound, Nova worked at 90-91 and touched 92 with a fastball that had above-average movement down and in to right-handed hitters. He would sometimes overthrow his curveball into more of a slider, but the pitch was beween 76-80 and flashed above-average with late snap... His changeup also flashed above-average with great deception and late depth...
That being said, his fastball would drop to 87-90 late in the game and lost some life, his curveball wasn’t always the same pitch and lost bite, and he would hang his changeup at times... His mechanics are solid, his frame has room for more bulk, he’s a solid athlete with good makeup and arm action, and he has simple, repeatable motion from a classic high 3/4 arm angle.

I figured we could use a couple chuckles around here. I particularly like this guy's Bernie.
Jon Heyman of SI.com is reporting that Chad Moeller went unclaimed on waivers and is back with the Yankees.
That is good news for the Yankees, especially given the problems Chris Stewart had last night.
