Pete Abe reports that Morgan Ensberg will indeed be placed on the 15-day DL after he "injured his left ankle" on Monday.  Okay, I guess the team doesn't want to risk losing Ensberg by designating him for assignment, so they are placing him on the DL instead (ala Sean Henn).

The Yanks are hitting just .190 (11-for-58) with runners in scoring position on the young season and have dropped to a 4-4 record out of the gate for the fifth consecutive season.

Zack Greinke has not fared well against the Yanks during his young career (1-2, 8.22 ERA in 7 games).

Ian Kennedy had a no-decision in his lone career start (5.0 IP, 2 ER) against the Royals on Sept 7, 2007.

Yankees' career numbers vs. Greinke can be viewed here.  Royals' career numbers vs. Kennedy can be viewed here.

It appears that all the beat writers were wrong because YES just reported that Shelley Duncan was optioned to Triple-A Scranton to make room for Gonzalez instead of placing Morgan Ensberg on the 15-day DL.

Okay, this really isn't good.  Ian Kennedy is a late scratch for tonight's game so Brian Bruney will make an emergency start.  No idea what happened to Kennedy.

Wow.  The injury bug is biting hard.

Ken Singleton just said on the YES broadcast that Kennedy is indeed ready to go tonight but they are holding him out until after the rain passes.

Gutsy move by Girardi.
