Help!!!!!

The season is well under way. This Yankee team is doing much better than expected. No one believed that the Bronx Bombers would be performing at such a high level. As the season has worn on we are starting to see some warts that need to be attended to. As teams are struggling to find out their identities the Yankee have a formula that is working. Get five to six innings out of your starters and turn it over to the pen to finish it off. Add the long ball and this team is never out of a game.

So what help do they need to make a run at the World Series?

Rotation: Has actually held up better than expected. Michael Pineda and Luis Severino heading this group. Jordan Montgomery has held his own in the rotation and seems to get better and better. Masahiro Tanaka has been very inconsistent. Either dominating or getting knocked around. CC Sabathia has been streaky, three solid start followed by three bad starts. We sure could use a solid #1 or #2 to solidify this rotation!

Offense: Has been clicking. Aaron Judge has been unbelievable. Starlin Castro has been a model of consistency. Matt Holliday has proven his contract worth on and off the field. Now, both Gary Sanchez and Didi Gregorius are back to solidify the defense and offense. Jacoby Ellsbury keeps right on hitting. Just when you though, Brett Gardner, was dead he suddenly starts hammering the ball and running wild. Aaron Hicks has been pushing every outfielder for playing time. Hicks has been tremendous. Chase Headley was on quite a tear to start the season. But, is regressing as the season progresses. The play of Austin Romine and Ronald Torreyes has been a revelation. These two proved that they deserve a shot, to start in the big leagues. Greg Bird and Chris Carter have left something to be desired. We sure need Bird to recover form an injury or upgrade first?

Bullpen: What can one say about this pen. Jonathan Holder, Tyler Clippard and Adam Warren have bridged the gap like no other bullpen. Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman have dominated as expected. Chasen Shreve has shown that he can indeed get hitters out in the big leagues. Tommy Layne is struggling to become the expected left-hand specialist. Biggest hole seems to be getting a lock down lefty out of the pen!

Summary: We need another top of the rotation pitcher in our rotation. Need a lock down left-handed option out of the pen. Could use some help at first and potential third.

Where does this help come from? Scouring the bottom dwellers (bottom two or three in particular) in each divisions and some teams who will or should not be able to maintain their current records. We should find some help. There are plenty of guys out their that could potentially help this team. Realistically, only a handful come to the top as options. Mainly, because of those teams being in a rebuild mode, respective team needs and requirements to secure their player(s).

Oakland: Sonny Gray RHS, Sean Doolittle LHR

Seattle: James Paxton LHS

Chicago (AL): Jose Quintana LHS, Todd Frazier 3B/1B

Arizona: Taijuan Walker RHS, Paul Goldschmidt 1B

Pittsburg: Gerrit Cole RHS, Tony Watson LHR

Cincinnati: Joey Votto 1B

New York (NL): Matt Harvey RHS

Atlanta: Julio Teheran RHS, Freddie Freeman 1B

It has been rumored that these players listed could be on the move, come trade deadline. Some will cost a kings ransom and the Yankees could meet the asking price. The recent comments by Hal Steinbrenner seems to inhibit those possibilities. Specially, guys like Goldschmidt, Votto and Freeman, because of prospects and current contract make it hard to secure their services. So all in all the Yankees will be looking for a player under team control for a few years or on an expiring contract.

Here are my trade solutions to the current Yankee needs:

White Sox trade, Quintana, Frazier and Narvaez for Romine, Carter, Mateo, Andujar, Abreau, Fowler, Williams, Clarkin and 4 million. Chicago sheds some 19 million in payroll. Chicago upgrades at catcher, adds top 10 position prospects at shortstop and third base. Two solid future rotation pieces. A outfielder for next year and one for the future. The four million allows the Sox the ability to keep, trade or release Carter. The Yankees get a power bat and RBI machine, who allows Headley to become a platoon or backup option at both first and third. In the event that Bird does not return to form, Frazier could slide over to first. Yankees would receive a left handed hitting backup catcher. Enhance rotation with a solid #2 left handed starting pitcher, who is under team control.

Pittsburg trades Watson for McKinney, Austin and Wade. The Pirates get a near ready super utility player, backup option at first and a future starting outfielder. The Yankees get a shut down lefty for the pen. Who can serve as a bridge or specialist in the pen.

The Yankees add Frazier, Narvaez, Quintana and Watson. By subtracting two current roster players and getting some relief for the forty man roster crunch.

Cashman has your back!!!!!!!!
