Reuters | Mark Lamport-Stokes: Yankees prospect Sandy Acevedo was tragically killed in a car accident Saturday night in the Domincan Republic. The 18 year old infielder signed as an international free agent last July and was expected to make his Gulf Coast League premiere this year. Thoughts go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace, Acevedo.
LoHud | Josh Thompson: Alex Rodriguez left yesterday's game in the sixth inning after tweaking his oblique taking swings in between at-bats. X-rays came back negative and he will travel with the team to Texas. However, he's sure to be out of commission for a couple days and with Hicks' injury this leaves the Yankees with a 23-man roster and some tough decisions to make.
New York Post | Zach Braziller: When a pitcher has nine strikeouts in five innings of work, one rarely expects him to be as shelled as Michael Pineda was on Sunday when he gave up four home runs. And that's exactly what baffled Joe Girardi after yesterday's game.
MLB.com | Barry M. Bloom: After going 3-6 in this homestand against the Mariners, Athletics, and Rays, the Yankees start an important road trip against the Rangers, Red Sox, and the Orioles. Maybe getting away from home for a bit will wake the offense and the team up.
ESPN | Danny Knobler: Despite his slow start to the season, and now injury, Alex Rodriguez is still the Yankees' best hope to help get the offense going. Although they'll avoid Cole Hammels, this lineup still struggles against lefties and will now be without Aaron Hicks and A-Rod.
